This is a fairly new restaurant (I believe it opened within the past year) but it has become a fast favorite of mine. If you like any type of wine, you will find something desirable at Coopers Hawk. My vino taste buds never developed past 12th grade so I love cheap, sweet, fruity wine. My friends however have a much more sophisticated palate and enjoy robust flavor with lots of tannins and whatnot. The beauty of Coopers Hawk is that we can all get exactly what we want- with no compromising. There is a large tasting bar when you walk in which I highly recommend visiting. You can select between sweet, variety, or deluxe tasting menu’s. All 3 have 8 pre selected wines (that you can swap out for others) that give information on the wine, the flavors in each bottle and pairing suggestions. The bar tenders are generous with their pours and will let you pick something else if you really dislike one.
The standard tastings are $7 and the deluxe tastings are $12. However, if you become a wine club member you get free wine tastings for yourself, and if you subscribe to the 2+ bottle/mo membership then you get 2 free wine tastings for a friend. Wine club members also earn points for every dollar spent at Coopers Hawk, and $15 gift card on the month of both you AND your spouses birthday. There is also a swanky prime parking spot in front for you to park in while you pick up your wine bottles. The membership prices differ based on how many bottles, and what category you want. I have the 2 bottle/mo sweet membership and it is $34. If you like wine, I highly recommend becoming a member. I swear they are not paying me to say this, but if any one from Coopers Hawk reads this, I will gladly take some wine and food off your hands. 😉
I have said how much I love the wine, but I haven’t even mentioned the amazing food! The restaurant is FABULOUS. I have yet to have something I didn’t like. Each table receives a pretzle bread roll (or 2 if you ask) that is just heavenly. It is perfectly darkened out the outside and has a fluffy inside.
My favorite appetizer is the brussel sprouts, but the chicken potstickers, ahi tuna, and calamari are all wonderful. You can’t make a bad selection.
I have had multiple salads, as well as fish and sandwiches as an entre. They were all delicious. This salad was no exception.
My husband got this chicken sandwich and the flavors were fabulous. However, I have to admit that the mashed potatoes stole the show. They were creamy and savory with a lovely crispy crunch from the bread crumbs. I recommend switching out the french fries for these!
If you get red wine, the wait staff bring a cool decanter dispenser that they pour the bottle into. If you get white or sparkling wine, they bring a cute tableside ice bucket for the bottle. Either way you feel fancy.
I hope you find time to venture out to the Gardens mall and experience Coopers Hawk for yourself! You won’t regret it!
