Sweet Potato Fries with Goat Cheese Dip

This was a total experiment. I love sweet potato fries, but ketchup isn’t my favorite dipper for them. Because they are so sweet, I wanted something tangy to balance them out. I just pulled out stuff I had on hand, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I ended up with.

I love tangy and sour flavors, so this combo tasted great to me. However, I could see how some people might think it was a little too tangy. I would reccomend swapping sour cream for the Greek yogurt if that better suits your tastebuds. With a sour cream base, you could add it to a wider group of foods. I put it on a turkey burger recently and it was wonderful.

Admittedly I did not make my sweet potato fries from scratch, but there is a good recipe here if you would like to do so. (I got frozen ones from Earth Fare and they were great)

  • 2 Tbs goat cheese
  • 1/3 cup greek yogurt
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp rubbed sage
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together until goat cheese is well mixed. I crumbled it into small pieces before mixing it in. Dunk your fries and enjoy!
